A scene from the novel

Arrival at Golden Dorm

Larry and Lorry reach a huge, colorful gate with ancient-looking fractals—and no walls around it.

They arrived at a huge gate. Beautiful fractals were carved across it: the kind found on ancient buildings, yet these looked brand new and well-groomed. It was extremely colorful too—you could almost see every color on it.

There was this huge gate but no walls around it, only a very small wooden fence. Anyone could go over it easily. The path was so narrow that it led exactly to the gate, so they couldn’t see the inside directly.

The Dude told them there was only one way in: lick the doorknob. Larry and Lorry considered the hygiene, the fence and the possibility that they were being fooled. Then they leaned in together and licked the doorknobs.
