Coffee House

At the coffee house, Larry and Lorry met Davut and talked about Yoshimi’s community: peacekeepers trained in self-defence, first aid, cyber-security and the practical work of helping a city whose government had stopped working for its people.

Then a chant floated down the street through the scent of cypress, saffron, cardamom, rose, nutmeg and oud: sweet potato. Street Healer Juan Cabrera appeared with his cart, selling exactly what he had decided the day required.

Yoshimi returned with Anna. Louie arrived carrying orange juice. Cold drip coffees, watermelon smoothie, almond milk latte and hot sweet potatoes collected around one table as meetings and coincidences multiplied.
